Its that time of the year again.................dance the dance of joy!!
It's the first day of the new month and also the beginning of the Navratras, hence I thought of doing a festive round up and throw back.
Our country is unique in every way and sense. In the context of festivals also
it has many variations in myth stories and celebrations.
Down south they celebrate the doll festival. In maharashtra they light the akhanda lamp for 9 nights. People also observe a fast on ashtami or navami. Some enthusiasts observe a fast on all 9 nights. In apdo Gujarat they install the Garbi and have the famous Garba/Dandiya festival. All in all it is a fun and joyous occasion with smiling faces and pretty dressed people.
To me it is the ultimate expression of self love and self indulgence. I dance like there is no tomorrow or there is no one watching. It is also the time of the year when my Gujju blood throbs.
